Medicare
When can I enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is the 7 months around your 65th birthday. AEP runs October 15 to December 7. MA-OEP runs January 1 to March 31. SEPs are available for qualifying events.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?
Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an all-in-one plan from a private carrier that often includes Part D and extras. Medigap is a supplement that pays what Original Medicare does not cover. You cannot have both at the same time.
Marketplace Plans (ACA)
When is Open Enrollment?
Federal Open Enrollment usually runs November 1 to January 15. Some states extend it. Outside that window you need a qualifying event (SEP) to enroll.
How do subsidies work?
Premium tax credits reduce your monthly premium based on your estimated annual income and household size. We calculate your subsidy and apply it to the plans we present.
What is a qualifying life event?
Moving, marriage, birth or adoption, loss of employer coverage, income change, leaving Medicaid or CHIP, among others. You have 60 days to enroll after the event.
Life Insurance
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Many term policies under a certain amount and most final expense policies are issued without an exam.
How much coverage should I get?
A common benchmark is 8 to 12 times your annual income if you have dependents, plus any outstanding debts and future obligations.
